Day 01 Arrival at San Jose, Costa Rica. Welcome to Costa Rica. Arrive at Juan Santamaria International Airport. After passing through Immigration you will be met by one of our representatives. He will take you to your hotel and give you your welcome kit. Overnight in San Jose City. Day 02 Free day in San José Day 03 Transfer to Tortuguero National Park. Early in the morning a bilingual guide will meet you at your hotel and transfer you to Mawamba Lodge in luxury minibus. Mawamba Lodge is a beachfront lodge in Tortuguero National Park on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica, it has beautiful gardens, rustic accommodation & two family style restaurants. The lodge facilities include a swimming pool, relaxing ranchos with hammocks, nature trails, beach access by foot, comfortable rooms. Specialized naturalist bilingual guides. Apart from the boat tours along the canals of the national park (or even beyond), you can walk along the pristine beach, or visit the simple Tortuguero village and the Caribbean Conservation Corporation’s visitor centre and turtle museum. If energetic, you can also climb the only hill in the area, the short but steep 150m high Cerro Tortuguero, for a great scenic view of the canals and ocean. Day 04 Tortuguero National Park Opportunity to explore the Tortuguero National Park area. Hiking and boat trips are included. During turtle nesting season (July to October), there is an optional tour at night available upon request at the hotel (Not included). Day 05 Selfdrive to Sarapiquí. Overnight at Centro Neotropico Sarapiqui The idea of creating a place for further conservation of nature and eco-development, in combination with sustainable tourism, education and scientific research, has become reality with the integrated, holistically inspired Centro Neotrópico Sarapiquí (CNS).The architecture of the CNS Ecolodge is inspired by the indigenous pre-Columbian construction techniques of the region, used by natives far more than 1000 years. The round palenques (or ranchos) are covered with a traditional thatched roof of palm leaves. Day 06 Seldrive to Arenal Volcano. Each room has fantastic view of the volcano mainly because of the excellent architectural design of this five stories hotel. Day 07 Arenal Volcano. Optional tours: Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge, Tour To the Arenal Volcano and Tabacón Resort Hot Springs, Sport Fishing in the Arenal Lake, Arenal Volcano Hike Tour, Mountain Biking, Venado Caves Tour, horseback Riding to Arenal Volcano, Peñas Blancas Safari Float. Day 08 Selfdrive to Rincon de la Vieja. Borinquen Hotel (bungalow) The climate in this national park is so diverse that areas with a severe dry season lasting 4 or 5 months are immediately followed by others, near the summit or on the Caribbean side, where there is constant rainfall, which gives rise to a forest mass rich in epiphytes. The differences in altitude and climate play an important role in the distribution of the flora and fauna. Resident species include the resplendent quetzal, three-wattles bellbirds, morpho butterflies, tapir, coatimundis and three kinds of monkeys. Day 09 Free day in Rincón de la Vieja. Secluded in the picturesque mountains of the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano, the Hotel is the perfect place for rest and relaxation or simply the ideal place to let go with a wide array of outdoor activities. Surrounded by magnificent views and exquisite forests, the hotel offers spacious luxury bungalows and villas that combine rustic design with modern facilities. You may enjoy many outdoor activities such as Natural Hot Spring Pools, Forest Hikes, Thermal Sauna, ATV Safari's, Mud Bath, Canopy Tour, Horse-back Rides etc. Included: Spa (hot springs, mud, pools) Day 10 Selfdrive to Monteverde. Hotel Fonda Vela (deluxe) Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Monteverde. Check-in in your hotel. This is probably the most recognized ecotourism destination in Costa Rica. If you start early, you will arrive in Monteverde around noon. The Hotel Fonda Vela is located in beautiful Monteverde, famous for its rare and gorgeous cloud forest and friendly community The refreshing climate and peacefulness of the Hotel's forested property allows you to enjoy one of Costa Rica's most beautiful locations. As well as luxury rooms, there are two restaurants at Fonda Vela, a full service bar, a conference room, laundry service and internet access.. Optional tours: Sky Walk or Sky Trek, Canopy Tour, Selvatura, etc. Day 11 Monteverde You may want to get up early to visit the cloud forest. The forest is quite different from the lowland rainforests. The name comes from the observation that the forests are nearly always shrouded in clouds. These forests are situated at high altitude along the continental divide down the spine of Costa Rica. A tour through the misty wood is a magical experience. The huge forest is overgrown with bromeliads, orchids, ferns, Stag's horn ferns as well as moss and the beautiful red-green feathered quetzal bird breeds here. Day 12 Selfdrive to Manuel Antonio. Hotel Parador (superior room) Manuel Antonio, on the Pacific Coast with its estuary, mangroves, a lagoon, beautiful beaches and winding paths, on 638 hectares of land and 55,000 hectares of protected marine environment. Take a walk through the tropical forest and find mosses, ferns, flowers and epiphytes growing thickly on every tree. Throughout the park, you will find the famous wildlife Costa Rica is known for, monkeys, sloths and lots of birds among others. A splendid combination of nature experience and beach fun! The elegant Mediterranean-styled architecture and decor of Hotel El Parador, harmoniously combined with the trimmings of traditional Spanish government-sponsored inns called "paradors" and the sophisticated atmosphere of Central European "boutiques hotels." All this in the midst of exotic tropical gardens inhabited by colorful birds, fascinating iguanas, playful monkeys, with the backdrop of golden sunsets and warm hospitality. The beach is about 5 minutes away and free shuttle transportation is available. Day 13 Manuel Antonio National Park - at leisure. Day 14 Manuel Antonio National Park - at leisure. Day 15 Selfdrive to San Jose. Drop off your car and overnight at Hotel Country Inn & Suites. (junor suite) Located between airport and busy San Jose downtown, with beautiful gardens, restaurant, cosy bar, swimming pool and Jacuzzi. An ideal place to end a holiday. Day 16 – Transfer to Juan Santamaria International Airport.
